Its just a matter of time before the new injector fails again on these motors, just look at the injector life threads on this site. If it does, I would pay the extra costs and get a lifetime warranty. I wonder if it covers injectors and labor in the event of failure. On another note, I saw a poster at my GMC dealer that advertised a lifetime warranty on GM parts installed by them. I would be surprised if they couldn't do it in 5-6 hours after having done a few. This leads me to believe that the GM dealers charging 12 hours are taking their sweet time on your dime. On most of such repair jobs, I was able to easily cut the book time in half on my second repair of the item (so long as I did it before forgetting everything I learned from the first repair). In other words it was the approximate the time it took me to replace the part with no prior experience, time spent pondering whether or not a certain part had to be removed, sequence of part removals, etc. I have replaced all sorts of auto parts in my younger days and always found that the "book time" quoted by dealers and auto shops were correct for a first timer with no previous experience. Finding a trustworthy mechanic that charges actual hours versus book time is a real challenge. give you for around the same price as set of OE replacements would cost you. He does not specialize in diesels either. BD Diesels OE quality stock replacement injectors are assembled with the same. It was his first LB7 injector replacement job. I would imagine that folks that do this all the time should be able to do it a bit faster. I had mine replaced by my trusted mechanic at 97000 miles.
